Result - St Ouen’s
CC won by 5 wickets
Summary
Rathbones OV’s won the toss and elected to bat first.
Dunford and McClean got the innings off to a good
start with McClean finding the boundary on a regular
basis and duly retired with 25 runs.
Bignell bowled quite quickly but erratically whilst De Gruchy
bowled 3 accurate overs and was unfortunate not to
pick up some wickets with some good out swingers.
Goodfellow batted well but fell to James Carolan who at
this stage was in the middle of a good spell of bowling.
Some good ground fielding and catching
kept the score in check until Le Cornu came in and
hit 3 consecutive boundaries to push the score past 170.
Carolan returned the figures of 2 wickets for 16 runs and fielded well
throughout the innings, including a good catch.
In reply, St Ouen’s
got off to a slow start but the fall of the first wicket brought Bignell to the crease who started
to hit the ball hard.
De Gruchy
joined Bignell and the run rate increased with both
players scoring regular boundaries.
Street came on and picked up the wicket
of De Gruchy and with Bignell
retired, the game looked to have swung back in favour of Rathbones.
However, Carolan followed up his earlier good bowling
performance by hitting some boundaries and running well between the wickets to
put the pressure back on the fielding side.
One over from Sharkey went for 21 to
leave St Ouen’s needing five runs from the last 2 overs, and Carolan finished off
the match with a boundary for St Ouen’s to win by 5
wickets and more than an over to spare.
Man of the match: James Carolan
