St Ouen needed to make a
solid start chasing the 95 runs set by Old Codgers in this basement battle,
this on a pitch that had provided no pace and invariable bounce.
But Barry Middleton
carried his form on from Wednesday’s clash with SCF removing Rob Tewkesbury
first ball. Martin Amy (27) repaired
the damage scoring freely until he was also bowled, again by Middleton.
Gomersall and Craig
Douglas added 8 a piece and big Dave Clark was removed leg before bowled John
Douglas after the third LBW shout of the over.
At this stage St Ouen’s were 5 down and only halfway to reaching the
total required for victory.
A solid 30 not out from
Mark Tribe with partnerships with Danny Moffat and Paul Horton (16 not out) saw
St Ouen home.
Earlier Craig Douglas
returning for his first game in 2 months reeled off 10 consecutive overs 8 of
which were maidens taking 5 Old Codgers wickets for just 3 runs. Danny Blasco further emphasised his ranking
as one of the best Island spinners took 2 for 30 in 10 overs. Only Derek De La Haye really looked
comfortable on a wicket that you had to be very watchful.
