A new competition has been launched – Good Luck - COMPETITION

The Old Blue Rinse ?

In the 1st Eleven’s game against Springfield CC, Karl Moyse, Vice Captain, was seen to bowl slow or off spin rather than his normally very effective medium pace.  I understand this is a hangover from the JICC Tour where Karl really found his feet as a slow bowler.

What a lot of people will not know is that Karl’s hero is Australian Colin Miller.  This medium pacer who can turn is arm to off spin if the medium pace is not producing the goods.  This sounds familiar you may all be thinking.

However, in the game against Springfield another similarity to his hero was seen.

These photos have been passed to me which show he is trying everything to be like Colin Miller.

RIP

I am afraid that I have to report the first loss to the club this season.  Although, not wholly unexpected to close friends of the gentleman concerned, it still comes as a great shock to the Club and the whole of Jersey cricket.  To find yourself all alone after 15 years companionship is something that most of us, God forbid, will never wish to experience.

I am afraid to report that Dave Morfee’s Sandshoes, The Tony Grieg Deluxe Model, have finally been consigned to the display cabinet in The Lords Long Room along side the Ashes and WG’s mighty willow.  Yes, the drag on the right boot has finally caused too much friction and the sole has come apart from the upper.

The last game against Caesareans saw the first outing of the new boots.  Not a patch on the old pair, there are studs, grip and no 20 layers of whitener.  However, Dave has informed me that they are a very special pair of Dermot Reeve’s bit-part all rounder, fill in a bit here and a bit there, Turbo Airwear Pro Plus 5.  Made from the finest hide upper and manmade sole.  They also feature a drag strip on the inside of the right big toe for the "I’m going to bowl the fast one, slower ball."

One thing to remember, Dave is now in his 30’s, who will last the longest?  My money is on the boots!  They will be a good investment if they are anything like the last pair.
