Happy 30th
Birthday Karl, from all at St Ouen’s Cricket Club. Relocation
As a number
of you know and I feel the sender of the following email may have also known
that the Web Base of stouenscc.co.uk
has moved to the country. However, I thought
it had some comical content so it has been published. If you have anything that you feel may be
of note to the readers, please let us know at swans@stouenscc.co.uk. Hello. Best Regards And just for
Rob his details can now be found at Players . Fashion
Part 2
We are
looking for suggestions for the colour of the next St Ouen’s Leisure
garment. As seen in Fashion the garment
for the last few seasons has been grey-marl.
You will note that the club badge is on the garment and its colours
that make it up are shown below.
We can easily
obtain the following colours but others are available, * White Please email
us at swans@stouenscc.co.uk
with your suggestions for a new colour. Penalty Runs
To update you
on previous comments made about two upstanding members of the Club, both on
and off the field and the favourites to be leading penalty runs scorers, no
member of the Club have been awarded, if you can call it that, a 5 run
penalty. However, the
only member of the club getting close to that was gritty Dave Morfee who
since arriving in the Island has diligently continued to shine one side of
the ball during ‘his’ brand of slow medium.
Not a problem you would think but on Saturday 12th May 2001
against he was warned by Mike Carpenter, no relation to the umpire of the
same name at Claverham C.C, for rubbing the other side in the foot holes.
Something he has been doing since he arrived in the island 3 years ago. Fashion Part 1
If you are
looking to save on your fines, £1.00 per game, see Dave Clark and he will let
you have one of the remaining and most sort after St Ouen’s Club Polo Shirts at a very reasonable
price. Modelled below by one our
‘Current’ 1st Eleven Players.
As you can
see this is a most stylist garment that will stand test of time. Machine washable anti-pill and hardly
needs ironing, judging by all the single males. This garment is the envy of most Jersey Cricket Clubs. Something you will always feel comfortable
in, especially when there are 10 of you out in Chambers. So why wait, place your order now or you
will only be disappointed (and fined every week!) Apologies
To Rob T for
originally spelling his surname with only one ‘e’ (now changed). Thanks to Martin T, who sent the first
email to swans@stouenscc.co.uk . Out for 3 Weeks

During the 1st Eleven defeat at the hands of
Caesareans, Paul ‘Sick Note’ Horton was up to his old tricks. After an opening spell with the ball,
which saw him wicket less, he turned at short third man only to pull the
proverbial fetlock. Pre-Season
·
Rob Tewkesbury did not make the first few indoor
nets. A source close to Rob revealed
that he was having trouble with his right hand and had no strength in his
grip. Tewks later revealed that he had
broken a bone in his hand whilst playing golf! He found himself on the wrong fairway facing a four ball who
wanted to tee off, embarrassed and under pressure he rushed the shot, missed
the ball and buried the 6 iron in the lush turf shattering the bone. ·
All other players have reported fit and well after the
winter. Paul Horton completed a full
football league and cup season without injury and is looking for the same
during the summer. Changes in Personnel
·
Alan Le Bihan is hanging up his boots for this year,
when quizzed ‘I just want my weekends back… a couple with the missus and I
could be back.’ ‘1st XI
fines could seriously cripple me financially, just ask Tewks!’ See you next
year Al ! ·
Damien ‘Soapy’ Pears left Jersey earlier this year for
to return to his native shores with the wife. All the best for the future and thanks for entertaining us for
a number of years at the expense of all the Division 1 Evening League and
Division 2 Weekend League Bowlers.
They said he could bowl as well but we knew he could catch. ·
Jolly Hockey Sticks – Stuart Ramskill has moved on a
‘free’ transfer to Caesareans the 1st XI’s first opponents on
Saturday 5th May. .
Annual General Meeting – 21st March 2001
The 2001 St Ouen’s
Cricket Club Annual General Meeting was held, as in most years, at the Tipsy
Toad Town House and the most notable points to come out are shown below: ·
New Captains for the 2001 season Craig Douglas and Karl Moyse, 1st XI Captain and 2nd
in command with Matt Tye and Ian Journeaux taking ‘control’ of the 2nd’s.
·
Paul Horton will
continue in the Evening’s ·
No changes in the main Club Officials ‘will all
those willing to stand step forward’ and Subscriptions, ·
For 2001 New Rules for the
1st XI and Cup Competitions. ·
The lack of Bouffant - Rob Tewkesbury skinny head. and……… ·
Dave Clark no longer holds
a post within St Ouen’s. After many
years of loyal service to the Club, Dave is looking forward to a quite, pressure-free
season and to enjoy a quite cider or two in the clubhouse whilst debating the
merit’s of the rule changes and those Penalty Runs. ·
Latest betting for the leading penalty rules scorers
this season, no surprise St Ouen's has the current joint favourites. |
