Response to the slur on Alan Le Bihan’s batting technique

I have never played a shot off my back foot, one step down the wicket - then
punch it!! (more like right hook)

Alan Le Bihan

Competition Update

It is time to let you know who the elegant stroke maker is in our second competition but before we do, we have set out below your guesses. Who is the closest?

Ø      It's Alan Le Bihan!   What do I win?
Horty.

(We would like to reward you with an hours free coaching in the nets with the king of spin, Mr Le Bihan, entitled ‘How to punch, no calm down JD, off the back foot’)

Ø      Good straight bat, looking to play the ball on it’s merits, on the off side, it must be the ‘Cow Shot King’ T. Mike Coward.
(I am afraid not)

Ø      Could it be Henry the mild mannered Janitor?  Could be!

(NO)

Ø      To whom it may concern.
In respect of the second competition currently running on the St Ouens cricket club web site I think I may have a few answers.

The tall, lean, handsome and extremely fit looking batsmen seems to me to be an 18 year old Robin Tewkesbury playing a solid defensive stroke to a steeply rising bouncer from Chatteris fast bowler John "lightning" Fastman. I also believe the photo had top billing in the 'Wisbech Standard' under the headlines

"Ton-Up Tewkesbury Does It Again". (Nothing to do with an endorsed driving licence then)

How fit and good he would still be now if it wasn’t for the terrible injury he received shortly after this photo was taken, called Beer!!

Robin Tewkesbury

Of course the winner of this competition is the gentleman featured or very own Robin Tewkesbury.

      Well done Robin.
