Evening League
St Ouen’s 165 for 1 in 12 overs
St John 92 for 4 in 12 overs
St Ouen went into the final League game knowing that a win would
secure a play-off for the championship against the winners of the SCF vs
Beeches fixture at Grainville.
St Ouen without Rob Tewkesbury promoted Ward Jenner to open with
Mark Tribe and the two were soon into their stride scoring at 9 runs an over
although the rain was a constant fear.
Jenner was first to reach 50 off 38 balls soon followed by Tribe
off 37 balls. Jenner was the only
wicket to fall holing out on the long on boundary caught by Gary Kynman of the
bowling of Phil Terry. Jenner’s innings
of 85 included 10 fours and 1 six. Mike
Coward pushed a single to remain 1 not out and Mark Tribe carried his bat with
60, which included 5 fours and 3 sixes.
In reply St John started brightly through English (26) and
Richardson although Richardson became the first of Stuart Ramskill’s 2 wickets
conceding just 16 runs off his 3 over spell.
He bowled in tandem with youngster Danny Blasco who is maturing as an
off break bowler. He ran through his 3
over spell taking 1 for 17.
Simon Appleby bowled his first over of the season and the last
over of the game. After being hit for 6
by Nick Broughton, who showed some late on resistance with 31, took his wicket
with thanks to the safe hands of Dave Clark.
A convincing win for St Ouen by 73 runs which sets up a shown
down with SCF who beat Beeches.
