Evening League vs Centurions
24 May 2004
St Ouen's for 4 in 12 overs
Centurions for 3
in 12 overs
After St Ouen's openers Jamie Brewster was caught brilliantly by Morrison at fly
slip and Gary Kynman received his second LBW decision in almost as many days,
Ward Jenner (56) and Mark Tribe (41) put on 100 for the third wicket. Although boundaries were hard to come by due
to the enthusiastic fielding, the St Ouen's number 3 and 4 ran everything that
was available. Both fell late on to great catches by Matt Smith on the
deep mid wicket boundary off the
bowling of Jez McKeever who finished with 2 for 29. Peter Brookes had dismissed
both St Ouen's openers and had figures of 2 for 24 off 3 overs.
In reply Centurions found runs hard to come by against the experience of Barry
Middleton 0 for 18 off 3 and the height of Mo Kemp 0 for 27. Although, as Centurions did not loose
wickets they always stood a chance of increasing the tempo against the 1st
changes bowlers. Leg spinner Stuart Ramskill stood forward and
immediately turned the ball square. He took the 3 wickets to fall for
just 23 runs and was supported by Gareth Jeffreys. The Centurions first 3, B
Davis, Danny Bertram and Matt Smith all scored over 25 but the run rate
increased and St Ouen's closed out the match with 21 runs to spare.
