Evening League vs Beeches

20 May 2004

Beeches 123 for 7 in 12 overs
St Ouen's 124 for 5 in 12 overs

This game was a nail biter set up by an innings of 53 by Rob Tewkesbury.

Beeches won the loss and elected to bat.  Veteran Jim Walls (59) took on the St Ouen's opening bowlers Barry Middleton and Gareth Jeffreys.  He took great pleasure in picking anything bowled to him from Jeffreys and depositing it over mid wicket and well away from any St Ouen's fielders.  His 50 came up in 32 balls and he was assisted by Dave Buxton.  Danny Blasco and Ward Jenner stemmed the flow of runs with their brand of slow bowling.  Blasco
trapped Walls LBW, Dave Clark stumped Buxton and he then bowled the dangerous Josh Hackland for 2.  Jenner finished with figures of 3 for 23
removing Gorman, Theron with the help of Clark, an another stumping and John Douglas.

St Ouen's opened with the unorthodox anchorman Tewkesbury and Jamie Brewster.  Brewster was bowled for 7 followed by Jenner and Tribe both for
9.  Paul Le Bihan injected some much needed action into the St Ouen's innings as Tewkesbury was playing the big shots but unlike last season was
not connecting, as reported in the JEP.  Le Bihan hit 18 of a Pretorious over including a massive leg side six and a lofted 4 over extra cover.

Tewkesbury by this time needing oxygen after running most of his score needed 4 from the final 2 balls and proceeded to hit two 2s to give St Ouen's their first points of their campaign.
