St Ouen’s CC vs SCF at Grainville on 15 May 2004

St Ouen’s CC            103 for 9 in 45 overs

SCF                             105 for 3

After the second Senior Cup game was washed out due to rain and not the St Ouen’s player not wishing to play as alleged by SCF hot-heads St Ouen’s wanted to continue their dominance at the end of last season with a win against the Weekend Champions.

Unfortunately it was not to be as Nicky Jewell removed, Morfee, Tewkesbury and Gomersall with only 16 on the board.  This brought together Gary Kynman (10) and Mark Tribe who consolidated the situation on an uncharacteristic bowler friendly Grainville track.  Kynman went when the score was 40 but Tribe (23) and Blasco pushed the score to 69 when 3 wickets fell for 1 run.  St Ouen’s closed on 103 for 9.

If catches do not win matches then they could at least make the game look a lot closer.  St Ouen’s dropped 5 catches Steve Carlyon (55*) being fortunate as he glided a catch to 1st slip but the ball hit a breast plate and bounced out before the hands looked to catch the ball.  Further similar catches where dropped as SCF edged towards victory.  If the catches where taken how differently the match could have ended.
